Saturday, June 12th ~ 11 to 4 ~ Jewelry Trunk Show Meet QANDLE QADIR of Cleveland Heights, Ohio as she presents her latest collection of modern craft sterling jewelry this Saturday from 11 to 4. Qandle skillfully combines industrial & organic in well-designed, easily wearable sterling silver jewelry. Qandle Qadir received her BFA at CalArts, moved back to Ohio's rust belt to pursue a life of art and design, then took the plunge in 2005 and quit her day job. Qandle quickly began exhibiting and selling her sterling work in art museums and galleries around the country. "Many of my designs are inspired by the old steel mills, rails, bridges and industrial ports that define the 'working' landscape of this region. These now abandoned sites are particularly interesting to me in the context of modernity. As industry gives way to technology, these structures give way to human neglect. They become the property of the elements and this is where both intellectually and aesthetically they become fascinating subjects. I aim to balance aesthetics and wear ability with ideas and thoughts." "The work that I do is hand crafted, primarily in sterling silver. Most of the tools that I use are basically the same tools that silversmiths have been using for centuries. The physical process of creating my art is as important to my work as the ideas that inspire them. There are all kinds of advanced technologies that would save time and cut a lot of corners. I love those "corners" too much to cut them! The challenges of creating various shapes and textures using a hammer on a flat sheet of silver is far too appealing to give way to cheating. I take a great deal of pride in my craftsmanship as well as my service to my customers. More than a dozen businesses will be participating in this month's fundraiser for the revitalization of the Owl's Nest Park. With each purchase made during the event, a portion of the sale will be donated to this very local cause. See Leslie Sweet Goshorn as she shows off her tile-making skills. In celebration of our fundraising efforts for the Owl's Nest Park, Ten Thousand Villages and indigenous has invited a few very special guests. OWLS. Real, live, OWLS! Come to O'Bryonville to meet a few of the fine feathered friends from Raptor, Inc. in our front yard from 5 to 7. Saturday, June 19th ~ 10 to 7 ~ Eco Go-go Join us and other eco-conscious businesses, organizations, farmers, and musicians for this fun-filled green community event just down the street at the Owl's Nest Park from 10 to 7 on Saturday, June 19th. There will be plenty of music, food, and activities for the whole family! We'll have a selection of works from our artists that lean towards the green side - those that recycle, re-purpose, reclaim, or even dig their own clay to make so much of the great arts & crafts of indigenous. Sunday, June 20th ~ artTILE exhibit ends artTILE 2010 exhibit continues through Father's Day, June 20th. So many tiles, so little time. It's true - there are still lots of tiles to see - many of our artists have sent "reinforcements" to keep the exhibit stocked through to the end! Life IS What We Believe

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in philosophies of other cultures, especially those of Tibet and China.

In Tibetan philosophy, the Antahkarana is described as a part of spiritual anatomy. It is said to be the connection between the physical brain and the Higher Self.

The Antahkarana is an ancient healing and meditation symbol that has been used in Tibet and China for thousands of years. It is a powerful symbol and it is said that simply by having it in your presence, it will create a positive affect on the chakras and aura. It strengthens Reiki energy, improves attunements and can be used for meditation.

This symbol is multi-dimensional. From one perspective it appears to be two dimensional, being made-up of three sevens on a flat surface. The three sevens represent the seven chakras, the seven colors and the seven tones of the musical scale.

From another perspective this symbol appears as a three dimensional cube. Its energy moves up from two to three dimensions that can be seen and continues up through unseen dimensions all the way to the highest dimension - the dimension of the Higher-Self.

This very special sun catcher has been designed with 3, 3" x 5"clear faceted bevels to cast a full spectrum of light and help energize the effectiveness of this ancient symbol.
It is surrounded by the healing color of green to enhance its effectiveness.
