Delphi Featured Artisan

L.A. Glass Studio/Lidia Anderson has been featured on ArtFire
as the Delphi Featured Artisan for the month of January 2010.

Please take a moment to browse through my ArtFire Shop where you will find gifts for every occasion, including windows, sun catchers, Moravian Stars, new jewelry pendant collection, and much more.

My passion is designing and making glass which I have been happily creating for 30 years. All designs are original and my own unique expressions. Each piece is meticulously hand crafted in the "Tiffany" method of stained glass, also known as the copper foil technique.

I am a native of Sydney, Australia, and it was here that I began my formal education in art. In my second year of college I moved to the United States and received my B.F.A. from B.G.S.U. in Ohio. I spent the next 10 years as art director in the field of television. Recognizing the stresses of the advertising world, I took the opportunity to find other forms of artistic expression. My love of glass was born and I allowed this creative energy to guide me. What evolved were works of art that integrated into our more common understanding of functional living.

My larger body of work is represented by some of the finest art galleries in the nation.

I had the privilege to exhibit with the world renowned artist, Dale Chihuly and also completed a restoration of 18 stained glass windows at a chapel in Ohio.

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy creating for you.

Which is your favorite Etsy Lux Gift?

Well, I certainly hope it is my glass room divider "Rain"

Please take a moment to VOTE for "Rain"

This is a three panel stained glass room divider. It is constructed entirely with clear bubble and architectural glass to simulate raindrops. I also incorporated antique clear mouth blown roundels from the early 1900's and clear glass nuggets. The glass panels are independent of the metal framing.

"Rain" is an award winning art piece, Best of Crafts award at the Mansfield Art Center, Ohio, 2008.

Spectacular Cheese Bread

This recipe is courtesy of Greg Neal Pottery.
This bread bowl is a fantastic ceramic bowl that the bread bakes inside.
I have personally known Greg for many years and we do a lot of art shows together. His work is amazing. I encourage you to visit his web site and contact him about purchasing this wonderful bowl.
It measures about 5” high and about 6” diameter and comes with an awesome recipe booklet, including the following.

Cheese Bread Recipe

Solid shortening
½ pkg. dry yeast
¼ Cup water (120-130 degrees F.)
1tsp sugar
1Tbs honey
1/2tsp. salt
1 lg egg
¼ tsp. baking powder
1 egg white
½ c. shredded cheddar cheese
1 3/4C all purpose flour 1 egg yolk, beaten
poppy or sesame seeds

Lightly grease large bowl, set aside
Combine water, butter, honey in mixing bowl. Beat in 1 egg and 1 egg white, 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt, mixing until thoroughly combined. Continue to beat 2 minutes, then add baking powder and additional flour, ¼ cup at a time, beating constantly until soft dough is formed. Quickly mix in cheese.
Turn dough onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. Place in prepared bowl, turning to coat entire surface. Cover with plastic wrap and hot damp towel and let stand in a warm place until double in volume. Punch down and let rise again until doubled.
Punch dough down once more and turn out onto lightly floured board. Knead 2 minutes, and then separate into 7-10 balls of dough in well-greased bread baker, placing last ball in the center. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and allow dough to rise in a warm place to top of baker.
Brush bread with egg yolk and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Place bread baker in cold oven. Bake bread at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees and bake until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped; about 25-30 minutes. If top browns too fast cover with foil. Cool bread on rack for 15 minutes, then carefully remove bread and let cool. Enjoy.

All you need is this, and a little black dress.

Some of my favorite pendants.

Unique Expressions In Glass.

Funky, reversible stained glass pendants for the young at heart. Original designs between layers of glass. Hand painted, graphics, textiles, and other cool embellishments.

Each pendant is a one of a kind, and can never be duplicated.
In between the glass I have incorporated hand painting and fabrics to create a layered 3-D image.

All these and more available in my Etsy shop.

Sangria Anyone?

Hitting the Sangria bar at the
Mac Worthington Gallery of Contemporary Art, Columbus, Ohio last Saturday night.
This was the artist's reception which is always celebrated at the gallery on the 3rd Saturday of every month.
It's a time to get together with other exhibiting artists and be able to talk to prospective clients.
My new stained glass exhibition piece for August hangs in it's usual spot on the window.

My dear friend, Dave, in front of a Mac Worthington painting that sold that evening.
Go Mac!

Play The Game - Pay It Forward

What goes around, comes around.
"Nautilus' is a stained glass window I designed and constructed many years ago. When I was ready to add a new post, I wanted an image that, to me, represented the Pay It Forward concept. It reminds me of the ripple effect we create in life and it's infinite possibilities.

I found this Pay It Forward Game on a fellow Etsian's blog. http://afrenchgirlinniagara.blogspot.com/

Okay - Here's how it works: Verbatim

I am entering into the following contract with the first 5 people who comment on this post and then commit to do the same on their blog. I'm the world's worst when it comes to commitments via the BLOG - but this one really appeals to me!

Just read below and if you feel up to the task copy the following into your blog and leave me a comment.

I am willing to send a surprise worldwide (I live in the U.S., BUT before any goodies are sent out - I must see a post on your blog - send me a link - that would be perfect).

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.
2. What I create will be just for you, with love.
3. It’ll be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber.
5. I reserve the right to do something strange or weird (though I don't really make strange or weird myself - but left the text in - just in case someone else may think so).
6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post.
7. Send your mailing address – after I contact you.

Welcome to everyone. I will however, make an effort to do something that you like based on what I see on your blog, BUT there are no guarantees.

Have fun, and make a difference in somebody's life today.
